Founder and teacher. She teaches the morning sit and the 8-week course, and leads the lake weekend every autumn.
Nora came to meditation the way most people do: tired, a little sceptical, and out of other ideas.
She was a hospital administrator in Boston when a colleague lent her a book and a cushion. A year later she sat her first silent retreat; five years later she trained to teach. She moved to Burlington in 2012 and opened Lull two years after that, because the room she wanted to sit in did not exist yet.
Her teaching is plain and practical. She talks about what to do with your attention, not about what you should feel, and she is at her best with people who think meditation is not for them.
“Nobody is bad at this. You sit down, you wander off, you come back. That is the whole practice, and you just did it.”
