Teacher
Iris Bell
The course is built on the eight-week programme that brought mindfulness into hospitals and schools, taught in plain language by a teacher who has led it twenty times.
You will learn one practice each week, try it at home with a short recording, and bring back what happened. By the last evening most people have a daily habit of about twenty minutes and a few short pauses they use without thinking.
Week by week
Open a week to see its theme. Every evening has a guided practice, a short talk and time for questions.
Noticing autopilot, and the body scan as a first way back to the present.
Tue, Oct 13
Where attention goes when you are not steering it, and how to bring it home.
Tue, Oct 20
The three-minute breathing space: a pause you can take anywhere, any time.
Tue, Oct 27
Staying with what is difficult, gently, instead of pushing it away.
Tue, Nov 3
Letting things be as they are for a moment, and what changes when you do.
Tue, Nov 10
Seeing thoughts as events rather than facts, and stepping back from them.
Tue, Nov 17
Noticing what nourishes you and what drains you, and choosing between them.
Tue, Nov 24
A plan for your own practice after the course, and a last sit together.
Tue, Dec 1
