Call Us Now For
What we treat as an emergency
If it is on this list, ring rather than book. If it is not, a booked appointment is cheaper and usually next day.
A smell of gas
Ring the national gas emergency line first, then us. Do not switch anything on or off.
A burst or leaking pipe
Anything you cannot stop by turning off a tap, or water coming through a ceiling.
No heat or hot water in winter
Priority if there is a baby, someone over 70 or anyone unwell in the property.
A boiler locking out repeatedly
Especially with a pressure drop, which usually means a leak somewhere on the system.
Overflowing or blocked soil pipe
Waste backing up into a bath or shower is a health risk, not an inconvenience.
A cylinder discharging
Water running from an outside pipe means a control has failed and it needs looking at tonight.
While You Wait
Three things worth doing before we get there
None of them takes long, and any of them can turn a $2,000 insurance claim into a $149 call out.
01
Find the stopcock and turn it off
Usually under the kitchen sink or where the main enters the house. Turning it clockwise stops the water feeding the leak, which is the single most useful thing anyone does before we arrive.
02
Switch the heating off at the programmer
Not at the fuse. Leaving the fuse on lets us test the controls when we get there, which saves pulling the boiler apart to find a fault that is in the wiring centre.
03
Get a bucket under it and photograph it
A photograph of where the water was coming from, before it is mopped up, is worth twenty minutes of looking for it once everything is dry.
