Graffiti on a storefront: what washes off

Paint on brick, on glass and on stone each needs a different answer.

Spray paint on a brick storefront wall

Graffiti on a storefront is best removed fast. The longer paint sits, the deeper it soaks into the pores of brick and stone, and the harder it is to lift without leaving a ghost.

Brick and block

Brick is porous, so we start with a remover that suits the paint, let it dwell, then rinse at moderate pressure. Old brick and soft mortar get a gentler pass and more dwell time instead of more pressure.

“The first visit decides the result. Fresh paint comes off clean; a month later it leaves a shadow.”

Dee Holloway, operations

Glass and metal

Paint on glass usually comes off with a blade and a solvent, with no pressure at all. Powder-coated frames and shutters need a mild remover, or the finish goes with the paint.

Stone and stucco

Limestone, sandstone and stucco mark easily. We test a small patch first and tell you in writing what to expect before we treat the whole wall.
