Who we are

A sailing club, not a showroom.

Tiller started as six boats and a shed on Eastport Wharf. Sixty-four years on it is still run by the people who sail from it, and anyone can walk down Pier 6 and take a boat out for the afternoon.

Prices at the dock

The rate on the website is the rate you pay, fuel for two hours included.

Skippers who teach

Every skipper is also an instructor; ask them to hand you the tiller.

Open to everyone

Members get more hours; guests get the same boats and the same welcome.

Dana Whitlock

Commodore, sailing from Pier 6 since 1994

We had never driven a boat. Twenty minutes of briefing and we were past Thomas Point by eleven, with a picnic and the whole Bay to ourselves.

The best four hours of our summer, and the price on the website was the price at the dock. Skipper Dana knew every lighthouse by name.

Three days ago I could not tie a bowline. This afternoon I took a dinghy round the creek on my own while my instructor waved from the RIB.
