Hiring Process

What to Expect

Honest answers to the questions candidates ask us most before and after applying.

Our standard process has three stages: an initial 30-minute call with the hiring manager to discuss your background and the role, a practical task or case study relevant to the position, and a final interview with two senior team members. For most roles, the full process takes two to three weeks from application to offer. We do not use automated screening systems — every application is read by a human.

It depends on the role. Operations positions require regular on-site presence at our Hamburg office, as coordination with freight partners often happens in person. Technology roles operate on a structured hybrid arrangement — typically two days in-office per week. Roles marked Remote (EU) are fully remote, with a quarterly in-person meeting in Hamburg. We do not offer fully remote positions for operations or commercial roles.

For operations roles, yes — we need people who understand the freight environment they are working in. For technology and data roles, sector experience is not required, but you will need to demonstrate that you can learn domain context quickly. We have onboarded strong engineers from outside logistics who are now among our most effective team members. Commercial roles sit somewhere between: trade knowledge is valued but not mandatory for junior positions.

We promote from within wherever the capability exists. Most of our current senior team started in individual contributor roles. We do not have a rigid annual review cycle — progression conversations happen when they are relevant, not when the calendar dictates. Each team member has a documented development plan reviewed every six months. Salary reviews are tied to scope changes and market benchmarks, not to review cycles.

Yes. We maintain a rolling speculative candidate list for all departments. Send your CV and a short note on the kind of work you are looking for to careers@meridax.com. We review speculative applications monthly and will contact you if a relevant opening arises within six months. We do not retain applications beyond that window without explicit consent.
