A ten minute evening ritual you can do at home

You do not need a spa to end the day like you have been to one. Ten minutes, a warm bathroom and a few things you already own are enough to tell your body the day is over.

Two minutes: set the room

Dim the lights or light a candle, put your phone in another room, and run the tap warm. The point is a clear signal: work is finished. Lay out a towel and something soft to wear afterwards so you do not have to look for it.

Three minutes: dry brush

Before you wash, brush your skin with long, light strokes towards the heart, starting at the feet. It wakes up circulation and leaves skin smoother than any scrub. Keep the pressure gentle; this is about rhythm, not effort.

Ten minutes every evening does more than one long spa day a year.

Three minutes: warm water

A shower or a short bath, as warm as is comfortable. Breathe in for four counts and out for six while the water runs over your shoulders. If you have a few drops of oil, add them now, not before.

A few candles and warm stones are enough to change the light in a room.

Two minutes: oil and stillness

Pat dry, warm a little body oil between your palms and press it into your skin. Then sit or lie still for the last two minutes. No screens, no lists. Most people sleep better that night, and notice it by the third evening.
