Dentures, implants or a bridge: an honest comparison

Dentures, implants or a bridge: an honest comparison

There are three ways to replace a missing tooth. Each has its place. Here they are side by side: visits, upkeep and what each one costs.

Option 1

A denture

Quickest and lowest cost. A partial denture is ready in about three weeks. A refit when the gums change is $180.

Option 2

A bridge

Fixed in place, using the teeth either side. Two visits, and it feels like your own teeth. Best when the neighbours already need crowns.

There is no wrong choice here, only the one that suits you.

Option 3

An implant

The closest thing to a new tooth. An implant with crown is from $3,450, over three visits across about four months.

Every option starts with the same free talk and an x-ray.

Upkeep

Looking after each one

Dentures come out to clean. Bridges and implants are brushed like teeth, with small brushes in between.

Deciding

How to choose

Health, budget and how long you want it to last all count. We put the three side by side on one page so you can decide at home.
