A first visit by the first birthday sounds early. It is short, it is free, and it is mostly about making the chair a normal place. Here it is, minute by minute.
In this article
01 Hello on a lap
02 Counting teeth
03 A ride in the chair
04 Questions for you
05 A sticker and a date
Minute 0
Your child stays on your lap, facing you. We say hello to the toy first, then to your child.
Minute 2
We count teeth out loud with a small mirror. Most children watch the mirror, not us.
The point of the first visit is that nothing happens at all.
Minute 5
If your child wants a ride, the chair goes up and down once. If not, we skip it.
Children ride the chair only if they ask to.
Minute 8
Brushing, bottles, teething and fluoride. We answer whatever you ask and write the answers down.
Minute 10
Every child leaves with a sticker. The next visit, a first check-up at three for $65, goes in the diary before you leave.
Try it
Book the first visit at a time your child is usually awake and fed. Mornings work best.
